The Castle of Mavrove is located on the highest part of the hills where the village of the same name lies. It is thought to have started to be built in the cen. VI-V BC. The cyclopean stone walls of the Illyrian period surround the highest part bordering an area of 15 ha. During archeological expeditions, inside the enclosure and in the suburbs (outside the walls), were found foundations of buildings, graves and coins with the inscription OLIPASTAN. The surrounding walls of Castle of Mavrove are made of large square stones. Fragments of the wall with regular horizontal lines of the isodomic type are still preserved. The height of the walls is 1500m.
