The cave of Spile myth places here the famous cave of Cyclops Polyphemus in Homer’s Odyssey. This is the largest of a series of caves and excellently justifies the name of the homonymous bay and the downtown area of Himara. The caves are located at the base of a low rock 100 meters from the present coastline of Spila.
